[a sunday stroll & the Oscars]

Yesterday we went on a 2.5 mile walk with Zodi. She was excited to get out and exert some energy. It was cooler in the day, which made for a nice early evening outing.

When we saw ‘be happy’ on the side of the electric unit, I felt the urge to snap a few memories. We love love love our weekends, so I try to take photos to remember by in the future 🙂

[me and my sweet, smiling girl]

This happened too last night: my all time favorite actor finally won an Oscar.
We got home super late (11:15p), so needless to say we are both reallllly tired today. It totally sucks, but I find comfort in knowing we will get to bed early tonight AND its already 1p in the afternoon. 4 more hours….only 4 more hours (yawn).
Until next time xx

[el comal memories]

There is a cozy mexican restaurant in Poway my family has been eating at for over 15 years. It’s a tiny whole in the wall dining experience that feels like home. My mom and stepdad eat there most Friday nights, and this past weekend we decided to join them.

On Saturday, we made breakfast in the morning. While C went to the gym, I went for a run. It was incredibly hot which is my least preferred jogging weather, but I endured it 😉 During my run, I saw (and almost stepped on) 11 of these little guys:
[gecko + snake?]
It is unreal how many beautiful visual shots I enjoy during a run. I try my best to capture each one, but sometimes it’s really only something the eyes can appreciate 🙂

[in my opinion, this shot is nature art]
I took the below picture because I wanted to show how tan I am this February!
Just kidding.
I could pass for a piece of chalk but I don’t care 😉 That vein popping out of my right shin only does that when I’m running. Weird.

[half way through my run]
After working out, C and I met up at home for some post protein lunch and relaxed for a few hours before heading to dinner with my Dad and Michelle. (Yes, we hang out with our families a LOT and we love it). We went to Macaroni Grille for dinner then Dairy Queen for dessert. Unfortunately, my fettuccini alfredo was dry then my oreo blizzard barely had any oreos in it. Because of this, I barely ate either of them. Maybe that’s why I’m so hungry today?
As I type this entry, it is Sunday afternoon. This morning we made eggs, bacon, toast, CrOJ and coffee. One of my favorite breakfast combos. Afterwards, C worked for a little bit while I blogged. Zodi is laying next to me and I can’t express how content and happy I feel 🙂
C is now at the gym while I continue to express my memories/feelings into this blog. In a couple hours, we plan to take the dog for a walk then grab Rubios for dinner before watching the Oscars. I am beyond grateful for a happy and productive weekend xx
A couple side notes:
How funny is this lemon cartoon picture? A girlfriend sent it to me after learning the dentist said that I can’t have lemons anymore lol.
After more than a month of the jigsaw puzzle being completed, we finally decided to put a protective seal on it in order to frame for a Halloween decoration. It turned out great…now I just need to find a frame 😉
[this seal glue went on white and dried clear – so interesting!]
That’s all for now. I need some exercise and a shower but I’ll try to blog tomorrow at some point xx

Over the last year, I’ve noticed Zodi has gotten even sweeter with age. She follows me around the apartment and cuddles up next to me once I’ve found a spot on the couch or bed. I’ve decided to write down memories and characteristics about her now so I can look back and remember when she is no longer here on Earth with us. I’ll update it as I remember, but for now here are some off the top of my head:

  • Hides under the bed when trash truck arrives.
  • Very playful especially after going #2.
  • Loves to burrow under blankets.
  • Shakes body when getting up from sleep or resting.
  • Leach on momma.
  • Humps doggy bed.
  • Loves to chew on toys and remove the stuffing.
  • Good about going potty when sticking to the routine/schedule.
  • Very sweet and gentle with children.
  • Intelligent, spunky, cute and athletic.
  • Whimpers when dreaming/asleep.
  • Vulnerable at vet visits.
  • Gets excited about day camp.
  • Extremely loud barker.
  • Growls turn into comical yawns.
  • Flies off the bed like supergirl.
  • Hogs the bed and pushes C to the end of his side.

[ss monte carlo]

Its’ been a little over a week since my last entry, but I’m back.
Friday night we did one of our favorite date nights: stayed in, made lasagna and had a Netflix marathon 🙂 I like to stay in not only because I’m a home body, but because I work long hours and really want to spend time with my dog. She relaxes at home all day while we’re at work; and we miss her. We love staying home and being together – just the three of us. It’s our happy place.

[waiting for the oven to heat so we can cook lasagna]

[these pictures make me so happy – love these two so much]
On Saturday morning, I went for a run while C was at the gym. I try to take a clever picture to remember each jog. These rocks went on forever and were all different colors. I couldn’t stop looking as I passed them. I’m a loser, I know 😉

Afterwards, we went on a bike ride at Coronado with C’s family. We saw the SS Monte Carlo ship that resurfaced after being submerged under the sand for 80 years. It was so cool to visit this ship’s history – even if the water was freezing!

After visiting the ship, we were all STARVING. We stopped for lunch and enjoyed delicious food and a few Moscow mules 🙂

On Sunday, we made breakfast, went grocery shopping, worked remotely, laundry and….gave the dog a bath. We’ve been really good about going to sleep earlier all nights of the week, so we were in bed relaxing by 8p 🙂 I realize this time frame sounds early. However, we’ve noticed that staying up late seems fun initially, but ultimately bleeds into over sleeping, feeling groggy & moody emotions.

On Monday, we went to work but I only worked 1/2 day because I had a dental cleaning, exam and x-rays. I absolutely hate the dentist and get ridiculously nervous but this appointment went well. The only bummer is that I’ll need a crown to fix an old filling from my childhood. Oh, two bummers. I can’t eat lemons anymore. No lemon water, water in my tea – nothing. I’m suuuper bummed because I LOVE my lemons and have them daily, but they are starting to diminish my enamel.
I came home from the dentist and took Zodi outside for a little walk. Snapchat helps me feel artistic without even trying 😉
[same picture: two ways]
That’s life lately! Until my next post 🙂

A three day weekend is something I get excited about. I work reallllly hard, so when there is a holiday I take that time for me.

Valentine’s Day is a holiday in which I really don’t understand as to why its a holiday. Frankly, I believe love should be celebrated daily through respect, friendship, genuine love and kindness. Regardless, we join in on the exaggerated day of love like the rest of them 😉

How we spent Valentine’s Day 2016:

  • C made me breakfast – eggs, toast, bacon, coffe and Cr-OJ!
  • I surprised C with Darius Rucker concert tickets in July 🙂
  • C surprised me with a ‘Running Girl’ sweatshirt I saw months ago at Sports Authority.
  • We hiked Torrey Pines – the most gorgeous views of cliffs and the ocean (see below).
  • Ate lunch outside on the patio at my choice of restaurant – I chose RUBIOS!
  • Enjoyed a 90 minute massage here to relax from the hike 🙂
  • Went home, ordered pizza and spent a romantic evening at home together 🙂

[every day with him is Valentine’s Day]

[can’t get better than THIS]
[enjoying the 30 min foot massage]

Monday was a holiday, so my girlfriend Jamie and I went to Lake Miramar. It was ridiculously hot, but we still had a great time enjoying each other’s company.

[flowers delivered from my sweetheart on Saturday 2.13.16]

[snapchat fun: a purple thank you with eyes to match]
Unfortunately, the 5 mile visit to LM gave me a headache, so I had to take the remainder of Monday easy. Regardless, it was still a nice day relaxing with my loves. We closed the weekend with some frozen yogurt and watched the Grammys 🙂 Until next time xx
