[15 minutes of panic]

They say you can tell a lot about a person in a crisis; their initial reaction followed by how they proceed to handle the emergency. I often wondered how I fell into that category, but knew in my core that one day, I’d find out.

That day arrived on Friday, December 9, 2016. Colby’s mom (Robin) was in town to visit (and attend) our work holiday party, which was being held at the Carlsbad Aviara. About 20 minutes before we had to begin getting ready, Colby was showing Robin the yard of our new home. I needed a shower, so I told them I would skip the outdoor tour. As they headed out the front door, I noticed they were joined by Zodi but honestly didn’t think much of it! Our backyard has a barred black gate that we keep closed practically 100% of the time.Read More »

[ravioli bake]

I found and made this recipe on one of my favorite *daily* blogs to read 🙂 It turned out heavenly!  I altered a few things to our preference at home.

Ingredients

1 (20 oz) package of cheese ravioli
4 to 5 green onions, chopped
1 (15oz) can of black beans, drained and rinsed
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
1 cup corn
(1 oz) packet of taco seasoning
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Directions

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Grease an 8×8 baking dish – set aside.
Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
Cook raviolis about 5-6 minutes.
Drain water and hold raviolis.
In a mixing bowl, combine green onions, beans, tomato sauce, corn and taco seasoning.
Pour cooked ravioli across bottom of prepared baking dish.
Pour the mixture on top of raviolis.
Sprinkle cheese & green onion then bake about 20 minutes.
The casserole’s cheese should be melted and bubby 🙂
Remove from oven and serve.

I had the best company while cooking:

[constantly tripping over her, but I wouldn’t have it any other way]

[3.17 – 3.20]

Thursday was St. Patrick’s Day and I came to work in all black.

Woops.

I totally knew it was ‘wear green today’ when I woke up in the morning. But then my morning happened:
-morning pee
-weigh in (after peeing of course)
-brush & floss teeth
-deodorant
-pick out clothes to wear (because I save everything for the last minute)
-figure out what to do with hair frizz central
-make up
-perfume
-accessories
-feed the dog
-grab breakfast
-and the list goes on…
…which is how I forgot to remember the green 💚

I’ve been getting adjusted once per week for over 3 months – and I love it. By Thursday, my body is basically shutting down and in need of a back cracking. I had my weekly appointment Thursday after work followed by a tortuous run: I felt as if I was running in water and couldn’t go faster. I’ve decided to blame this on the time change because I basically fail at all aspects of life when I don’t get enough sleep. This worries me ten-fold for when I am a new mother in the future. And no, I’m not pregnant.
(Sorry, mom – maybe in a few years!).
[as always, some pics from Thursday’s ‘water’ run]

It wasn’t easy, but we pushed through and finished our run. Of course grumbling most of the way 😉

Afterwards, we grabbed a healthy dinner (Panda Express) and headed home to watch Grey’s Anatomy. Thursdays are my absolute favorite day of the week because the next day is always Friday 🙂

Friday, I took personal time off work and enjoyed the afternoon with my mom. We got our nails done and went to dinner with C and Jimmy. One guess where we went out to eat 😉

[sadly, this is the only picture I have from Friday night. boo]

On Saturday, C and I went to UTC mall followed by dinner at PF Changs. My dad, Michelle and brother joined us. Again, I wasn’t as camera crazy this weekend as usual so I have no pics from Saturday night 😦

I went for a run on Sunday morning while C went to the gym. No surprise there. We did laundry, picked up the house, did some cleaning and relaxed before picking up C’s momma at the airport.

[snoozin on a Sunday]

I’m super sad the weekend is over, but grateful for happy weekend 🙂

[a sunday stroll & the Oscars]

Yesterday we went on a 2.5 mile walk with Zodi. She was excited to get out and exert some energy. It was cooler in the day, which made for a nice early evening outing.

When we saw ‘be happy’ on the side of the electric unit, I felt the urge to snap a few memories. We love love love our weekends, so I try to take photos to remember by in the future 🙂

[me and my sweet, smiling girl]

This happened too last night: my all time favorite actor finally won an Oscar.

We got home super late (11:15p), so needless to say we are both reallllly tired today. It totally sucks, but I find comfort in knowing we will get to bed early tonight AND its already 1p in the afternoon. 4 more hours….only 4 more hours (yawn).

Until next time xx

Over the last year, I’ve noticed Zodi has gotten even sweeter with age. She follows me around the apartment and cuddles up next to me once I’ve found a spot on the couch or bed. I’ve decided to write down memories and characteristics about her now so I can look back and remember when she is no longer here on Earth with us. I’ll update it as I remember, but for now here are some off the top of my head:

  • Hides under the bed when trash truck arrives.
  • Very playful especially after going #2.
  • Loves to burrow under blankets.
  • Shakes body when getting up from sleep or resting.
  • Leach on momma.
  • Humps doggy bed.
  • Loves to chew on toys and remove the stuffing.
  • Good about going potty when sticking to the routine/schedule.
  • Very sweet and gentle with children.
  • Intelligent, spunky, cute and athletic.
  • Whimpers when dreaming/asleep.
  • Vulnerable at vet visits.
  • Gets excited about day camp.
  • Extremely loud barker.
  • Growls turn into comical yawns.
  • Flies off the bed like supergirl.
  • Hogs the bed and pushes C to the end of his side.
